Journey to Achieving a Debt Free Life with Vanessa Masse
In this 21st episode of The Lavender Fix podcast I interview: Vanessa Masse, a Boston based supermom and nurse practitioner who is well known for her journey to becoming debt free in 2017. Vanessa made it happen. She pushed through and paid off $75,000 in 7.5 months. LET THAT SINK IN! This journey was not easy. It was a bumpy ride with lots of twits and turns, living a controlled spending lifestyle, sacrificing date nights, rationing, and let's not forget the not so welcoming door knocks by the Internal Revenue Service.
Vanessa followed Dave Ramsey's Debt Snowball Method to work through her mountain of loans. The debt snowball method is a debt reduction strategy where you pay off debt in order of smallest to largest, gaining momentum as you knock out each balance. When the smallest debt is paid in full, you roll the money you were paying on that debt into the next smallest balance. Phew! Vanessa read Dave's book multiple times with her husband, listened to his podcast religiously (especially the testimonials) and dreamed hard to be one of the featured guests who became debt free!
